Out With The Old, In With The New: AMD’s 2024 Ins and Outs

After a restful holiday break, we’re refreshed and ready to implement healthy habits into our professional and personal lives! Whether it be leaving the latest social media trend behind or setting ✨boundaries✨, we’re discussing what we're ditching in 2023 and what we’re taking with us into 2024!

🛑 OUT:

1️⃣ “Going viral” mentality:

In today’s digital world, people often link success with going viral, putting too much pressure on creatives, specially small businesses. Our markers of success include creating authentic and informational content that aligns with our clients’ brands and connects them with their audience!

2️⃣ Chat GPT:

Faster doesn’t always mean better. While Chat GPT can be useful in gathering ideas for time-sensitive posts, we want to connect with our audience through intentional messaging that comes from us, not a generator (our Copywriter would agree)!

3️⃣ Being overly critical of ourselves:

As creatives, it’s easy to put pressure on ourselves and our work when we receive feedback from clients. We always want to create the best of the best! But, it’s time to let go of the pressure to create perfect content ALL of the time.

4️⃣ Always being “on”:

It can be hard to resist the urge to open up that laptop after we leave the office. We want to find a healthy work-life balance and implement boundaries when it comes to responding to emails and working after hours!

5️⃣ BeReal:

The trend was fun while it lasted, but usership of this platform has significantly declined 61% from 15 million in October 2022 to less than six million in March 2023 (The New York Times). While it gained its popularity during the pandemic, it doesn’t look like it’s going to have the same longevity as the powerhouse social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram!

6️⃣ Strictly following creative trends:

While following the latest trends can be fun and relevant for our audience, we don’t want that to be the sole strategy behind what we create. We want to lean into our "creative" gut more and share content that feels authentic to who we are!

✅ IN:

1️⃣ Weekly coworker bonding:

We’re already a close-knit crew, but we want to continue to build camaraderie in the office! You can catch us grabbing lunch or coffee at our favorite local spots to give us a mental break in our work day.

2️⃣ Stepping outside our comfort zones:

It’s easy to stick with what’s comfortable, but we want to challenge ourselves to strengthen our creative muscles! Each of us have the ability to grow in our roles and try new techniques in design, photography, social strategy, etc.

3️⃣ Mindful internet scrolling:

There’s nothing wrong with a little scrolling, as long as it’s beneficial! A big part of our job is researching and gathering online inspo, so we want to curate our feeds with relevant and positive content that will inspire us and keep our creative juices flowing.

4️⃣ User-generated content (UGC):

We love UGC so much that we added it as a new AMD service! We can’t wait to continue to implement UGC into our clients’ social strategies, because highlighting and connecting with real people is what it’s all about.

5️⃣ Working remotely/traveling:

We already have two girls on our team who work remotely! Our work can be done from anywhere and we want to encourage our team to create a work-life balance that allows them to work from home or from literally anywhere in the world.

6️⃣ Pinterest mood boards:

The AMD girls love an aesthetic and we’re always gathering inspo for our social content. Pinterest mood boards have come in clutch during our rebranding process and when planning Jetty events!

We hope sharing our “ins” and “outs” will inspire you to implement some of your own! If hiring a new agency to level up your branding or social strategy is on your “ins” list, we’re happy to help you make that happen in 2024 😉.
