Clustercore: Mess Or Masterpiece?
Brat Summer may be a distant memory, but what it assured us is that messes are 💚hot️ 💚…messy content included. A new, and somewhat refreshing, trend is taking over the digital world and that’s Clustercore. We’re seeing unfiltered, realistic and not perfect camera roll photos hitting the feed and we’re kind of loving it.
It looks like minimalism and aesthetics have been dethroned after they ruled the internet for the last 10 years. Remember when everything was drenched in the Nashville Instagram filter, everyone’s Tumblr obeyed a moody color scheme and Ariana Grande curated such a perfectly pale pink IG page (like Glinda 💖) that an unedited photo would have been illegal? Yeah, we remember, too, and honestly, that was exhausting!
Now, we’re all about the camera roll dumps – please show us a blurry group pic from GNO or a zoomed in video of your dog. Hailey Bieber, Dua Lipa and Madelyn Cline are just a few queens of Clustercore.
Forgetting the filters is opening the door to so many possibilities when it comes to content creation. Here’s why it’s actually refreshing that your maximalistic content is rotten right to the core:
Relating With Your Audience
Posting natural content that is from “real life” provides that reliability factor your followers will gravitate towards. If it looks like they also could’ve taken that photo or video, then you’re good as gold! It makes your audience feel like they know you when they see content similar to their own life and experiences.
Showing Your True Brand
A filter’s purpose is to make something seem prettier than it actually is, which isn’t always a bad thing, however, overuse can lead to unrealistic ideas of your brand. Life isn’t perfect, so why should your content show anything different? Authenticity comes from posting those real-life shots, and your followers will believe your genuine content.
Saving Time
Raise your hand if you’ve ever spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to take the “perfect” photo to post, then proceed to take even more time to edit it? Same. It’s a breath of fresh air to capture content in real time, without the pressure of perfection. Plus, there are no guidelines or limits when you don’t have to worry about following a strict color scheme or aesthetic.
